This is a story of a Girl[Sheela], who had good features, but not so called “fair” colour, she was wheatish.
And this is what came in her way again and again, not just her, it came in her daughters[Sweety] way too.
Sheela was a wheatish girl somewhere in Indias one of the villages, who was born and brought up in a very rich family, she got married in a family which was not so rich, but was stable to live, Sheela’s mother-in-law selected her for her son [Rakesh], they got married, but this marriage was not an easy one, Sheela who never worked at her place had to work from early morning to late night, her sisters & mother-in-law troubled her a lot just because she was not FAIR but wheatish.
Her husband was always told to divorce Sheela just because of her colour, people in her house never liked her just because of her colour, even till the date she gave birth to her first child her in-laws were after Rakesh to divorce Sheela, the only good thing about her marriage was her husbands love and the strength of her relation with her husband Rakesh, that is still the same.
All this stopped once Sheela left her in-laws place and came to a city with her husband, now she was free from those bad words and torture that she faced in village.
But this was not the end, Sheela had 2 daughter, she never wanted daughters because her in laws wanted a son, Sheela aborted her first 2 childs because they were girls, her third child was again a girl and fourth also a girl, third was born, and again at the time of fourth one, Sheela went to abort this child, but Rakesh stopped her and they gave birth to this fourth child named [Sweety] who was also not “FAIR” but wheatish.
Sweety’s childhood was sam as other childrens, but again, as they say “History Repeats Itself” , when Sweety fell in love with a Guy , the guys parents told him we will not accept this girl , if you marry her we will through you out of our house, Sweety thought her Boyfriend will support her, but he didn’t, and left Sweety, she was left alone and always thought that what made her Boyfriend parents say those words?.. but after some time another guy[Ankush] came in her life and again, his parents rejected her, but this time Sweety had found someone like her father, who was always with her even though his parents said that they don’t like Sweety, the reason of not liking Sweety they gave was that she is “DARK.WHEATISH” and Ankush was a smart and good looking guy, who could have got more beauty girl then Sweety.
Sweety is still fighting for her love, though they have accepted her just because of Ankush wants it , but she is still waiting for them to accept her the way she is ,
She has always thought and still is thinking
- IS IT REALLY NECESSARY TO BE A FAIR PERSON IN COLOUR?
- WHY COLOUR MATTERS FOR PEOPLE?
- WHY EVEN AFTER BRITISHERS LEFT INDIA , PEOPLE ARE FINDING DIFFERENCES IN FAIR AND DARK PEOPLE?
- IF YOU MAKE DIFFERENCE IN FAIR AND DARK THEN WHY NOT CALL BRITISHERS TO RULE AGAIN?
- LET THEM MAKE THE DIFFERENCE IN FAIR AND WHEATISH PEOPLE, WHY DID YOU ASK THEM TO LEAVE INDIA?” you all deserve what Britishers has done to you..
Sweety is scared thinking
- Is it going to be the same with her what happen with her Mother?
- Is she gonna face that same hate rate from her in-laws that her Mother faced just because of her colour?

Megs,
I’m trying to understand the deeeper meaning of this post.
The problem is with our orthodox mentality. We are obsessed with fairness, irrespective of the persons personality or character. If you notice, a fair person necessarily doesn’t have good features. Many times, it is just an excuse to dislike someone. The differences in fair and dark existed even before the British came to India. In my opinion, people in UK are equally biased. A recent example of this is the big brother scandal involving Jane Goody and Shilpa Shetty.
Sweety is different, her life is different. Times are different from what her mother had. She will have to win her in-laws hearts by her goodness. Beauty as they say, is skin deep. It’s being beautiful from inside that matters. In a few years, even the most prettiest or the fairest girl will look not so good, then is that beauty/fairness of any help? At the end what matters is what you do and how you behave.
Remember, Lord Krishna was also sawnla. Still we love him and worship him.
Peace and good luck to Sweety!

Hai sweety,
I am sheela. I read your story and you need not feel inferior about your complexion. It’s not your color but the conduct that speaks about you. U are in no way inferior to fair women.
Cheese…..

No, its not the question of feeling inferior.. its tht people just dont let live girls like sweety and sheela with a freedom tht other girls has … why to make thm feel tht they are not good in looks or colour or xyz ….
